Hi Darren,
Just read your article on the BBC news site. Do you have information on how much it did finally cost you in GPRS connections? I'd be interested to know which phone company you're with too?
I know that O2 have an optional extra which cuts the cost of calls from international by a certain % for a fixed fee, not sure if that also applies to GPRS though?
Found your blog from your article on the BBC site. I recently did a trip through Yosemite on a harley - you can see the pics here.
It was nice to see my own home town, San Francisco, from your perspective. I could even recognize where you were eating your breakfast! Mel's is one of my favorite places to take people from outside the US because it lives up to their idea of what it's like here. Hmmm, maybe I should blog about it?

Just read the BBC article. Nice blog, bit more expensive than postcards! Also love SF, we did Yosemite in a day! Want to go back with the kids this year on a similar trip to yours. How about publishing your route?

Don't know that you're still checking your comments, but it sounds like you had a wonderful trip to my old college stomping grounds (I went to school at UC Berkeley). You really should pay Yosemite another visit in the summertime and gear up for a hike up Half Dome. Here's the link for the story of my Half Dome experience. Road trips... ah, truly a great American pasttime...

I live in Jersey City, up against NYC, but lived in California for almost two decades. Seeing your pictures made me yearn for California (and warm weather) again. Also, your road trip made me realize how amazing North America can be. If only I had the cash to rent a car and drive up to Canada.

Uh! How I could use your method of up loading photos right now. At he moment I am Blogging my way around East Asia with a laptop which has it's limitations. The use of a mobile phone is definately the way to go. If there is ever another trip like the one I am coming to the end of I'll be moblogging, or what ever it is called.
